Abstract :
Start-ups face a constant Catch-22 management dilemma. They are unable to attract capital without a good chief executive officer (CEO), and they cannot attract good quality management without funding in place. This is a huge problem for start-ups wherever they are. Recent research has revealed important insights into what helps bring about success and what hinders it. There is a very strong correlation between the rigour applied in the recruitment process and the level of success companies achieve. Many recruitment actions fail because, too often, start-ups settle for whoever is available when they may not answer a real problem. Only 8% of those surveyed tried to attract those who were in employment and succeeding elsewhere. The key lies not in grabbing whoever is available, but rather in being sure to look for proven leaders. The article reveals how to attract good management for start-ups.
