Abstract
In comparing the usefulness of various filters for a given device, the design engineer is confronted with many questions. In most instances these questions can be answered readily because of predominance of a performance requirement for which alternate solutions are not available. In other instances, however, there may be several suitable solutions. The designer will then have to decide on the basis of an analysis of the requirements and the available solutions. It would be unrealistic to assume that, in a short paper of this nature, one could attempt to cover but a fraction of the problems posed by filters. Therefore, it is possible only to spotlight a number of interesting relationships between mechanical and LC type filters.
