  • Abstract
    The authors describe a 1/3 inch 380K pixel charge coupled device (CCD) image sensor which is superior to the conventional 1/2 inch 380K pixel CCD image sensor. In developing the 1/3 inch device, the key technologies, such as on-chip microlens, high-energy ion-implantation, 0.55 μm design rule, and high-sensitivity amplifier, have been fully utilized. 480 TV line resolution, high sensitivity, and low smear level have been achieved. Device characteristics are well-balanced and best suited for hi-band small-size camcorders
