Abstract :
The authors describe a concurrent engineering approach to meet the highly competitive needs of today´s consumer electronics industry by providing the capability of predicting, analyzing and making decisions on design, test, manufacturing, marketing and cost-related issues during the early phases of the product life cycle. The methodology of developing a high quality product by coordinating team efforts within a specific discipline and also among multiple disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, marketing, materials and manufacturing is presented. The design of a multi-function electronic display board is discussed. The general development process from concept to manufacture is outlined covering issues related to multiple disciplines and specifically focusing on the manufacturing issues
