Abstract :
A new gas leak location method is proposed for telecommunication cable networks which are composed of different cables and/or branch cables. With this method, falling pressure curves are measured at several pressure measuring points, and the pressure curves are calculated using a simulation. The position and/or size of the leak are varied in the simulation and when the measured falling-pressure curves coincide most exactly with the pressure curves obtained by the simulation, the leak position in the simulation model indicates the estimated leak position. This paper describes the simulation method, experimental results and location error characteristics
