Abstract :
A monolithically integrated 32 /spl times/ four-channel client reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer with five vernier ports based on a silica-on-silicon planar lightwave circuit is demonstrated. The device is fabricated on a 6-in wafer. It can be configured to add/drop any four channels from 32 WDM input wavelength to any of the four add/drop ports. It shows the promise of fabricating integrated, robust, flexible and low-cost DWDM network subsystems by PLC.
