Abstract :
A simple alternative formula for the error probability of a RAKE demodulator for noncoherent, square-law detected, binary orthogonal signals and Rayleigh fading is presented. The formula is more compact and considerably easier to evaluate than the classical formula while providing identical numerical results. The derivation of the alternative formula is shown to be much simpler than the derivation of the classical formula.
