Abstract :
When a company sets a new record, it is perhaps natural to look briefly at where it came from and where it is going. In the summer of 1995, Reyrolle won its largest ever contract, worth more than £200 million, to build one of the biggest electricity substations in the Middle East. It is part of the company´s relentless drive for orders worldwide, particularly in the Middle and Far East. The author describes the history of Reyrolle since its founding in 1886, mentioning the various mergers and takeovers, products manufactured by the company, and the strategy adopted by the company in the 1990s to remain competitive
