Abstract :
Problems of enhancement of the power transmission capacity and minimization of losses have been considered for a long time. One of the most promising ways to solve this problem is using superconducting cables, which are able to carry transport currents of tens of kilo-amperes. This paper considers the effect of cable cross-section area sectioning upon its operation. Currents of adjacent sections are assumed to have antithetical directions. This allows increasing of the cable´s current-carrying capacity, lowering of ac losses, and decreasing of the cable self-field.
