Abstract
It has been experimentally demonstrated that an intensity modulated optical label at 155 Mbit/s can be detected directly by a 4×4 optical crosspoint switch without added optical components. Further routing of 10 Gbit/s packets can be performed without being affected by the label detection process, with a payload transmission power penalty of less than 1.5 dB.
