Abstract
A new idea to model long-term correlations in broadband speech and audio coders based on regular pulse excitation is presented. It involves expanding the excitation sequence with additional pulses targeting this type of correlation while being bit rate efficient. Comparison with the standard method (long-term prediction) highlights the advantages of the proposed technique.
