Abstract
An analysis of two fourth-rank correlation tensors for granular media arising in strong fluctuation theory is given. It is shown that the nonvanishing components of these tensors may be expressed as a Euclidean inner product of a correlation matrix which depends only on statistics relating to the geometry of the random inhomogeneities with nonrandom vectors depending on the dielectric properties of the constituents of the random medium. General properties of this correlation matrix are derived and related to characteristics such as the number of constituents, their volume fractions, and specific surface areas. Examples are given and methods for determining the correlation matrix both experimentally and analytically are discussed.
