Abstract :
The growing trend by major companies and organisations within virtually all sectors of business and industry to decentralise their operations is creating a completely new commercial climate. Management´s need for efficient, high-speed communication systems to handle ever-growing volumes of data from remote locations has never been greater. Nevertheless, a few of today´s lean, mean, business machines can look to an old-style corporate HQ to provide the necessary infrastructure and comprehensive ´IT´ support. The alarming concept of entrusting the management of highly-sensitive, confidential exchanges of commercial information to an independent third party is providing a vital commercial edge for an increasing number of leading players. The author discusses the growth of networking and the solution of outsourcing adopted to overcome the problems created.
