Abstract :
The responses of a shielded MR head to uniform fields and recording media transitions are shown to be correlated, both by theory and experiment. This correlation enables one to use uniform field response of the heads measured during intermediate stages of the head fabrication process to infer certain head performances during electrical flying tests. It can be used to monitor and control MR head design and fabrication process at an early stage
