Abstract :
Characteristics of base-line-popping (BLP) noise in MR heads are described. A simple mathematical model describing the BLP noise spectrum is presented. In this model, random-telegraph-like noise is used to approximate BLP noise. The correlation function and noise spectrum density are derived analytically for a special case. The calculated noise spectrum is in good agreement with experimental data. “Excessive noise” in the low frequencies are found to be the general signature of BLP noise for shielded MR heads
