Abstract
The micromagnetic structures of recorded tracks in two types of isotropic CoPtCr longitudinal recording media have been investigated using the modified differential phase contrast method of Lorentz electron microscopy. Media intended for both inductive and magnetoresistive playback have been studied and thin film specimens suitable for electron microscopy were isolated from standard NiP plated AlMg hard disks. The ultimate aim is to map the magnetization distribution associated with the writing process and to attempt to correlate this with the physical microstructure of the films
