Abstract :
Acoustic emission and flying height measurements are performed simultaneously to investigate the take-off characteristics of typical two rail sliders. The rms voltage and frequency spectrum of the acoustic emission signal are examined as a function of disk velocity, and the frequencies measured are related to the resonant frequencies of the slider body obtained from a finite element analysis. The correlation between slider resonant frequency and slider contact location is examined
