Abstract :
Time-resolved phase-change experiments were carried out on the same sample with a violet and a red wavelength configuration of a two-laser static disk-tester. The experiments revealed qualitatively completely different reflectivity dynamics for the two wavelength regimes on a DVD-RAM. These differences are discussed and can be used to independently identify the contributions of phase changes and transient local temperature changes to the optical read-out signal.
