Abstract :
It is known that permanent and semipermanent dielectric layers may be used in xerography. In the present case a temporary dielectric layer consisting of toner particles is predeposited on a selenium photoreceptor plate. Next this dielectric layer is charged by a corona emitter. Field equations under this case are solved to obtain the expressions for the vertical and the horizontal electric fields on the toners. Results of the calculations for the particular cases are given. Such a system when used in X-ray imaging has a tendency to produce a uniform toner layer within the development height from the photoreceptor surface. Thus even the usual cascade development process, in principle, may give rise to the high resolution and the highly sensitive development necessary in the clinical applications. Some of the results of xeroradiography using this method are presented.
