Abstract :
The authors report, for the first time, high colour purity short period superlattice (SPSL) II-VI blue light emitting diodes (LEDs) grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The room temperature electroluminescence spectrum showed pure blue emission at 460 nm with a 13 nm full width at half maximum (FWHM). The external quantum efficiency is ~0.1%. Operating at 14 A cm-2, the half-intensity lifetime was >13 h at room temperature
