A new noncoherent parallel matched-filter (MF) acquisition scheme with reference filter (RF) is proposed for a direct-sequence spread-spectrum/multiple-access packet radio system. It is shown that a parallel MF-RF achieves higher packet throughput than a serial MFRF and a parallel MF without an RF
