Abstract :
Currently observed practices are described which are ineffective and often hazardous to both man and machine, where power and signals are to be supplied and grounded to an electronic system, as are recommends ways to correct and avoid such problems. Concepts are presented herein, rather than the mathematical analysis supporting them, as the author believes that the problems observed in the field result from conceptual misunderstandings, rather than theoretical inadequacies. In all cases, compatibility between the National Electrical Code and known requirements for high-frequency grounding and surge suppression for electronics systems is stressed.
