Abstract
Corrosion and cathodic protection are electrochemical processes involving electrical current and an exchange of charged ions. As such, basic electrical laws can be applied and electrical models can be developed. Through the use of these models, the basic theory of cathodic protection and applied field testing techniques will be presented. From this, model design and monitoring information is available to the corrosion engineer, which adds a quantitative dimension to corrosion control.
