Abstract
The inverse Watkins-Johnson tapped inductor converter is identified as a rail-to-tap converter capable of operating in both the buck-boost and boost modes. Its theoretical characteristics and performance are confirmed and it is shown to be deserving of wider application, particularly as an alternative to the standard boost converter.
