Abstract :
Wind generation is intermittent in the short term and, if market penetration is to increase, storage systems need to be developed that can balance the loads. This article discusses wind power which could be coupled with a despatchable electrolysis plant to produce hydrogen and oxygen. This would not only improve the quality of wind-generated power but also supply hydrogen fuel for the transportation sector. A possible vision could involve electrolysis units deployed adjacent to garage forecourts, linked to hydrogen storage and refuelling systems.
