Abstract :
Multilayered and sandwiched ultra-thin fcc-Fe/Cu films were prepared on Cu (100) by the MBE method. The epitaxial growth of films was observed by RHEED, the periodicity of the multilayered films was confirmed by X-ray diffraction, and film magnetization was measured. All fcc Fe films on Cu (100) exhibited ferromagnetism, and the magnetic moment of an Fe atom was estimated to be 2.0±0.2 ¿B. The Curie temperature of the fcc Fe was above room temperature (578±5 K for [10ML Fe/10ML Cu]20), and depended oh the number of Fe atomic layers. Films with fewer than three monolayers of Fe exhibited perpendicular magnetic anisotropy.
