Abstract
A synchronisation scheme for an ultrahigh-speed optical drop demultiplexer is proposed, which simultaneously uses the optical demultiplexer gate as a phase-detector for the synchronisation electronics. A nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) switching at a drop rate of 155 MHz was successfully locked on to a 40 Gbit/s RZ bit pattern
