Abstract
A survey made to identify the magnitude and severity of the simultaneous transfer problem and how electric utilities are attempting to cope with this problem is described. Its purpose was to assess the industry´s need, experience, and concerns in the area of simultaneous transfer capability analysis. The authors describe the survey preparation along with the results from the mail survey and follow-up interviews. The responses to various questions are tallied, and the various programs identified by the respondents are enumerated. The results indicate that there is no clear definition in the electric utility industry for multiarea transfer capability analysis. A comprehensive method/package that interrelates all area transfer capabilities in a multiarea system does not exist.<>
