The authors discuss systems designed specifically for industrial customers of electric utilities, which provide functions similar to those of electronic monitoring and control systems used by utilities but are tailored to meet the specific requirements of an industrial power system. They describe the system architecture of such systems and some of its features and examine the benefits obtained from their use.<>
