Abstract :
Advanced communication satellite systems in which on-board resources could be temporarily assigned to earth-stations undergoing severe rain attenuation are described. Based on a mathematical model of the spatial correlation of rain developed from experimental data, a software package is presented which allows the evaluation of the performance of such systems
