Abstract :
We report an electro-optic directed logic gate based on two U-shaped waveguides and two microring resonators, which can implement the XNOR operation. Two electrical signals representing the two operands of the operation are applied to the PIN diodes embedded around the two microring resonators, which are modulated through the plasma dispersion effect. The result of the XNOR operation is obtained at the output port as optical signal. The operation at the speed of 100 Mb/s is demonstrated.
