Abstract :
In recent years transition metal superlattices such as Fe/Cr and Co/Cu have been found to exhibit interesting behavior such as a giant magnetoresistance and oscillating interlayer exchange interactions. This phenomena cannot be understood in terms of conventional theory of magnetic materials. We review recent experimental and theoretical work on exchange interactions, as well as the magnetic moment distribution in superlattices.
