Abstract :
A photonic packet switch that uses a multihop frequency-routing interconnection network called Frontiernet is described. A generalised shuffle connectivity is applied to the proposed multihop network where each tunable frequency convertor transmits far fewer consecutive frequency-channels than the number of input/output (I/O) highways. Furthermore, the frequency router can reduce the number of frequency channels used in the network
