Abstract :
The first demonstration of 30 dB gain in a 1.3 μm Raman fibre amplifier at a pump power of only 350 mW at 1.24 μm is presented. To obtain high-gain efficiency, Nd3+-doped silica-germanium fibres possessing both increased GeO2 content and simultaneously reduced Ge-induced losses have been used
