Abstract
This paper describes an ultrasonic method of determining the size and position of flaws in welded joints for offshore steel structures. A special ultrasonic transducer is designed which facilitates beam switching. The transducer is crescent shaped and thus allows wide coverage of the area under test with minimum beam switching requirement.
