Abstract :
The high-speed and low-cost microprocessor has stimulated the interest of using multiprocessors in industrial electronics applications to achieve better reliability, higher availability, and greater performance. Example applications include machine-tool control, voice recognition, computer-aided manufacturing, and sophisticated military embedded computer systems. A major problem in designing systems with a large number of processors is that the existing speed-performance analysis tools may be inadequate. The systems are often too complex to cost effectively simulate and often violate conditions needed to employ analytic queueing network techniques.
