Abstract
A description, the theory of operation, and the errors of an elastically supported, two-axis-rate gyroscope are presented. In this gyroscope, the rotating inertial element is restrained by a rotating spring, thus eliminating threshold effects and allowing operation in an open-loop mode. Equations for the overall performance under static and dynamic conditions, including characteristic errors, are derived
