Abstract :
The principles of a bistatic (forward-looking) system equipped with the capability for location and imaging of isolated shallow, subsurface objects is presented. Simple signal processing tools are developed, which are subsequently employed on experimental data obtained using an S-band system (3.5 GHz) on several objects of interest observed under ideal testbed conditions. The results of signal/image processing using measured data are presented that attest to the success in identifying isolated target signatures under these ideal conditions, and also indicate further need for sophisticated signal/image processing based on improved wave propagation models
