  • Abstract
    Studies of microtransformer-based switching converters are reviewed in this paper. A multilayered planar device consisting of zigzag-shape coils and Co-Zr amorphous magnetic films is used as the converter´s main transformer. A resonant-type microconverter driven at high frequencies (6 MHz) shows excellent characteristics suited to practical applications, including high efficiency (49.5%), high output (0.35 W) and small size (10×10×0.23 mm).
