Abstract
A simulation program is developed for the analysis of thyristor circuits which include ferromagnetic devices. An improved magnetic core model has been introduced in the analysis which incorporates dynamic as well as the static flux-mmf characteristics. The static class includes the major hysteresis loop, normal magnetization and its associated minor loops. The dynamic class encompasses eddy current loss and skin effect. The circuit elements consisting of thyristors and diodes are regarded as switches. The input data for the analysis program is the circuit topology describing the nodes, elements between nodes, values and parameters of elements. The output is in the form of node voltage and current through the element versus time. A special feature of this paper is the method of computer analysis of thyristor circuits which include linear and nonlinear magnetic devices.
