Abstract :
An MOVPE vertical coupler structure is used to provide efficient coupling between InP/InGaAsP optoelectronic integrated circuit (OEIC) waveguides and cleaved monomode fibres. A 2 dB improvement in the coupling efficiency of TE polarised light of wavelength 1.55 μm is demonstrated. The structure does not require any additional growth steps, and is compatable with vertically integrated detector structures
