Abstract :
A technique is proposed for an efficient two-way serial communication between a high-speed tape reader and a microcomputer. This technique makes use of the time slot allocated to the second STOP bit of each transmitted character to send back to the reader on the data line start-stop commands as well as a retransmission command in case a parity error is detected.
