Abstract :
A procedure for labelling cell identifiers is presented. Using this procedure a mobile node is able to calculate the distance between two cell positions, which allows implementing optimal tracking strategies using dynamic location areas based on cell distance (measured in cells). The main characteristics of this labelling procedure are scalability and compatibility with current cellular networks.
