Abstract :
A general formulation for the block matching motion estimation is introduced using affine transformations of the pixel co-ordinates. Based on this approach, a three dimensional block matching method is proposed which is able to estimate both rotational and translational displacements in the picture frames. Early experimental results show considerable improvement compared to the conventional methods and support the idea for further research in the subject.
