Abstract :
This paper reports the results of direct observation with high temporal and spatial resolution of the behavior of liquid metal under the plasma of the cathode spot of low-current vacuum arcs. New data have been obtained on the interplay between the formation of liquid-metal microstructures and the motion of the cathode spot.
