Abstract :
The formulation of a geotomography reconstruction problem in a statistical setting is described, and a Monte Carlo reconstruction method that is applicable to underdetermined systems is discussed. It is pointed out that the Monte-Carlo method yields many candidate images if the measurement data are undetermined and the need for an entropy-based convergence criterion is considered. The method is demonstrated in a simulation setting with promising results
