Abstract :
A technique to compute the response of an induction sonde in a dipping formation is presented. The effects of borehole and invasion are assumed to be negligible. The formation may have an arbitrary number of beds. The method developed is called the coefficient propagator method. It overcomes difficulties that usually occur in numerical integration due to exponential behavior of electromagnetic-wave propagation in dissipative media. The method is used to investigate the effects of dipping and laminated formations on induction logs.<>
