Abstract
The integrated services digital network (ISDN) is able to provide the increasingly sophisticated connectivity required by end-users in modern office systems. A related problem is to bring the ISDN functionality into the end-user´s working area. The personal computer is viewed as an effective tool to exploit all ISDN possibilities, because of its favorable price/performance ratio and its high degree of market penetration. The design of a PC-ISDN interface card, which provides integrated connectivity for the mother PC, facsimile equipment, telephone(s), a cluster of data terminals, and a cluster of printers, is described. Functional and technical descriptions of the add-on card are given. The hardware and software that provide basic access (144 kb/s) to the ISDN are described
