Abstract :
A broadband spider-shaped monopole antenna is designed for ultra-high frequency (UHF)-band airborne applications. The antenna consists of a dielectric sleeve, a bulb-like metal body, and eight arc metal pipes. Good agreement between the simulated and measured results are observed, where the proposed antenna achieves a wide impedance bandwidth of 52.7% for VSWR ≤ 2, covering the frequency range from 624 MHz to 1.07 GHz, with a stable maximum gain and azimuthal gain over 5 and 1.5 dBi, respectively, in the entire bandwidth.
