Abstract :
It is argued that the surge of interest in hardware-software codesign is driven by advances in the technologies that support a unified approach. In particular, these include system-level specification and simulation environments, soft-prototyping techniques, formal design and verification methods, and high-level synthesis and framework technology. Codesign framework and management structures are reviewed. The partitioning and integration of the designed systems are described.<>
